With the continuous cultural and technological advancement, early 2018 Dubai Police have envisioned the building of Dubai Police Innovation Lab. Dubai Police planned to transform an empty 1300 square foot warehouse in the Dubai Police Headquarters into an Innovation Lab building to house competitive and creative employees who will thrive to work for projects and researches for exhibition that will contribute to smart and secure policing. UMI has been chosen to design and build the Dubai Police Innovation Lab and in just 300 days with over 3600 working hours, UMI has transformed an empty warehouse to an excellent Innovation Lab building that highly contributes to our future initiatives today.
Dubai Police Innovation Lab building energy is efficient, it has 94.3% building vitality, HDC global standards heat insulation and made of environmental friendly building materials. From outside a sleek futuristic design welcomes you that easily speaks what the building is about, “Innovation”.
Inside the following areas are found; a reception area; a coffee shop with seating area and private pods; a large exhibition area for showcasing new innovative services and projects – or even used for forums, conferences and events; a semi-private discussion area that can fit up to 20 people; a highly equipped meeting room that is for 16 people; a Digital Library and Development office; a 3D printing area for prototyping; a workshop for mechanical and carpentry projects and research; and an office area. More than the facilities that this Innovation have. It is also equipped with interactive technologies and home automation systems. Most importantly, the fully equipped and functional Dubai Police Innovation Lab has been a great contribution to the design thinking, collaboration and brainstorming of the employees. It is not only considered as a building for the employees but also a home that will continuously give birth and nourish new innovative ideas, services and projects for smart and secure policing.
In the 2020’s event of annual Dubai Innovation Month, Dubai Police Innovation Week was held in Dubai Police Innovation Lab. UMI has also been tapped to organize the event and design and build outdoor branding structures and a conference tent to be used in the event. Visitors coming from different emirates and even some parts of the world have attended and had a tour and experience of the Dubai Police Innovation Lab. As Dubai Police continues to seek excellence and innovative ideas and projects to keep Dubai as the most secure city in the world and UAE as one of the safest countries in the world. UMI will continue to build for the future.
